American Horror Story

Watched American Horror Story (S01E01 "Pilot") the other night. And it was pretty damn good. For those who are worried about watching it for the horror factor, I wouldn't say it was scary. However, it was disturbingly creepy as hell.

The plot: A family move into a new house, hoping for a second chance. Interesting that it might be their last? ;)

A few noteworthy highlights:
  • The music was spot on. "Tonight You Belong To Me" by Patience and Prudence, "Twisted Nerve" by Bernard Herrmann, "Flickers" by Son Lux
  • The acting was brilliant. Dylan McDermott (Ben harmon: husband, dad, psychiatrist, walks in the nude), Connie Britton (Vivien Harmon: wife, mother, beautiful), Taissa Farmiga (Violet: daughter, stereotypical teenager), Jessica Lange (Constance: neighbor, southern lady, mother), Evan Peters (Tate Langdon: has issues, Ben's pt, Violet's friend, dreams about murder, "It's a filthy goddamn hopeless world we live in."), and Denis O'Hare (Larry Harvey: previous owner of the house, husband, father, murderer). The guest stars were also awesome: Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge played the housekeeper, and Jamie Brewer played Constance's daughter.
  • The guy in the latex suit was surprisingly hot in a super creepy kind of way
  • The jars were just creepy.
  • Shifty camera effects.
  • Dialogue.
  • The house.
WARNINGS: Sex, nudity, violence, profanity, drug usage. Young viewers, beware.

With that all said, I have no idea what really happened in the show.
